We have verified with our farmers the meat we are sourcing is American Bison/ Buffalo. Additionally according to FDA laws/ regulations water buffalo cannot be labeled as buffalo, it must be labeled as water buffalo. So rest assured all bison/ buffalo you buy on Crowd Cow is American Bison/ Buffalo.
Additionally water buffalo is not required to be processed in USDA plants- if you see the USDA approval on your product labels, you are buying bison.
